Bear and Forbear
The great stoic Epictetus had a golden saying (that I got a tattoo of) “Bear and Forbear”. Meaning that we had to endure and had to have restraint and discipline in order to have the best life. The great stoic Marcus Aurelius said that we must accept that each day we will meet selfish, impertinent and greedy people. His point being that once we expect this and understand it those people and condition will be easier to bear. Today is really pushing me to that limit and I am forced to remind myself multiple times that I should have expected this and I must endure.
Aleister Crowley Quote
Crowley is an interesting character and his wisdom has to be taken with a grain of salt in general, but I like this quote.
100% Pokemon
I caught this bad boy over the holiday weekend. Kinda useless for PVP but still cool
My mantra for the New Year
2020 was quite an ordeal. I know that we are not completely out of the woods yet, but I am reminded of the word of Kilgore Trout from the novel Timequake by Kurt Vonnegut.
First Rated Tournament of the New Year
I was fairly dissappointed in my performance for this tournament
Game 1.
Chess Game No Blunders
I was pleased with this game, the analysis engine said I only had one mistake and 0 blunders. Woot Woot!!
I hate to say it but
I, like many people, am very tired of the coronavirus and all the problems it brought with it this year. The general rhetoric seems to be "I am can't wait until 2020 is over" but what they really mean to say is they can't wait for this pandemic to be over. Now as we approach the New Year in a day or so we are now getting more reports of an even more virulent strain of coronavirus has been discovered in the U.K. and last night I heard on the news about the first confirmed case of this new virulent strain here in the U.S.. It seems that the outlook for at least the first part of 2021 is going to be a bleak one. Hopefully the vaccines will work and everyone will get them. I hope that the last half of 2021 can be semi-normal.Merry Christmas Everyone!
Merry Christmas Everyone! I hope it is as wonderful for you as it has been for me.
