Seamonkey 2
You know, Seamonkey 2, the new version of the web browser that was supplanted by Firefox is out. The main thing that strikes me about this new browser is the DISTINCT ABSENCE of FLASHBLOCK!!!! So unless they give me a plugin to block flash, then it wouldn’t matter if their browser made me ten years younger, wealthy or cured my allergy to republicans, IM NOT GOING TO USE IT! The people working on Seamonkey 2 are total boneheads if they don’t understand that FLASH is the single most abused technology on the internet, and that FLASHBLOCK is the only way to fly on the internet now.
I now realize...
I now realize that I have fallen into the bad habit of writing short, meaningless little posts and ‘updates’ that are only marginally better than twitters, and I will correct this soon. I have quit smoking, technically I think this is day 24, but the urge is pretty much gone now. I think I want to go back to Quaker worship meeting, maybe this weekend. Semester is drawing to a close, and finals are coming soon, once all that’s done maybe I can marshal together enough will and write a few interesting things. My health is getting better, gained some weight from quitting smoking, but will take that off soon. I’m 38, and a lot of little things about my body seem to have changed, can’t quite describe it, but I don’t think it’s bad. In fact probably the opposite, the only weird thing is I seem to have some strange impulse towards vegetarianism. I’ve had on and off flings with vegetarianism before, it never really lasted, but like I said, my body is changing, and responds pretty badly towards meat, in one way or another I usually wind up paying for each time I eat it. Maybe I’m just getting older, maybe I’ve just finally started listening to my body, but veggy diet seems to be the only things my body doesn’t kick my ass for.
High Stress Time of Year
finals, inspection at work, christmas, STRESS!!!!!!!!
Move Complete
I have backed up my old domain database and have successfully moved all the data here. Wordpress certainly made it easy. If any of you ever actually follow my blog, then re-bookmark this site, this is where it will be from now on. Unless of course I get another crazy notion of all the cool things I can do with my own domain. Just so you all know it’s really me, here is another cool bug…
Installing Exaile on Slackware64 13.0
Well, as many of you know, Slackware 13.0 is out, and is awesome, and comes with an entirely 64 bit version. Many people use slackbuilds from slackbuilds.org to build packages and when porting over to the 64 bit version there have been a few minor problems in a few packages, usually complaining that it couldn’t find some important thing in /usr/lib, when we know it should be looking in /usr/lib64, this error is because some of the older script functionality passes information incorrectly to the new script options, and hence to get many of these things to compile correctly you need to set the LDFLAGS manually and pass it to the slackbuild script, so I will use an example of compiling the music player exaile for slackware64 13.0
Update
Well,
It appears that I have asthma. Don’t know if this will be permanent, but I have an inhaler, and on the nicotine patch now. Very depressing. On lighter note, I have been running into a lot of old friends lately, been reading some good books, finished my CIT152 midterm with an A, still have one more midterm for CIT181, but thats it’s own can of worms. Can’t wait for Thanksgiving, but even happier that its now Hot Tea weather in Vegas.

Homework Day
I need a vacation so badly, but have decided that this weekend would be better spent just resting and doing homework. So I am going to order in Thai food, and buckle down for 10 hours of homework. I have been journaling recently, on advice from a book on writing, and it seems to be having some effect, hopefully soon I will be able to actually get some stories out of my mind and down on paper. Slackware 13.0 is awesome, but I can’t use it this semester for school, so am currently running 32-bit ubuntu linux on a 64-bit system in the interest of being able to run the database software I need for classes. As soon as the semester is over I’m wiping and putting on 64-bit Slackware. As promised, here is a cool bug image…
